RTB Solutions - your sucess is our success

In financial management services, we are particularly strong in management accounting; financial analysis and modeling; and cash flow management (including program planning). We apply these skills in the following areas:

  • Management Accounting more
  • Asset Management more
  • Resource Management more

Management Accounting

RTB is very experienced in providing managers with relevant financial/accounting data, information and reports, so as to allow the managers to make informed business decisions and thus, to ensure solid organisational performance.

We can assist clients in budget development (input or output or activity- based); analysing actual cost of operations trends; internal accounting process improvements (actual cost recording, AP, AR and invoicing); management reporting; feasibility modeling; and business cases analysis.

CASE STUDY – Management Accounting

As part of the introduction of a new, large-scale, multimillion dollar, payroll IT system into BCC, RTB Solutions was requested to develop ongoing operating and maintenance budgets via both input and output methodologies.

Asset Management

Good asset management is critical if a business is to gain the lowest “whole of life” costs from its assets (capital expenditure, operating and maintenance costs) and yet meet the specifications and expectations of customers. It is also critical to recognise that asset management is not just about day-to-day issues but rather, it is a holistic management process that needs to be performed with strategic, tactical and operational decisions in mind. Necessary strategic asset management decisions include what assets to buy or dispose of and when, whilst capital delivery planning and maintenance planning are more tactical decisions that need to be made. Essential operational decisions relate to such practical activities as asset condition assessments and maintenance.

Although RTB Solutions has a credible track record in all three areas of the asset management process, our forte lies in strategic asset management, particularly with optimisation. We have found that businesses can save large sums of money and significantly improve service standards through combining the knowledge of economics, accounting, engineering and marketing when performing the activity of asset optimisation.

CASE STUDY – Asset Management

RTB assisted Ipswich City Council implement its ORACLE- based Asset Management system and, in addition, standardize and formalize all its strategic, tactical and operational asset management processes.

Resource Management

Resource Management is a rather broad term which encompasses such activities as workforce planning, portfolio/program management and strategic procurement and includes such resources as assets, materials and staff. However, such resource management is necessary to avoid the financial issues arising from both the under-utilised and over-utilised resource and to ensure that resources are “fit for purpose” (human resources need to be competent and material resources/assets need to meet the specifications necessary to delivery high quality products).

The RTB approach to resource management is based upon economic concepts and thus we first work to understand demand (past, present and future) and then perform a ‘supply’ analysis / profile.

We believe the key features of a robust resource supply analysis are as follows:

  1. A human resource long-range profile, considering staff demographics/culture; business core skills/capabilities; competency levels desired; and resource levels required (noting annual leave, training, overtime and productivity levels).
  2. Plant, equipment and asset strategic optimisation. This tricky activity is designed to ensure correct levels of plant/equipment and assets are available where and when needed, in the most efficient manner possible (by looking at utilisation, optimal usage, condition, capacity, purchase/hire/maintenance arrangements etc), whilst minimising “whole of life” costs.
  3. Strategic materials procurement, which ensures that correct materials are available on-site in the most efficient manner; investigates usage and prioritisation; forecasts requirements and availability; and designs strategic purchasing arrangements.

CASE STUDY – Resource Management

To assist infrastructure project delivery within Brisbane Water, RTB designed, built and implemented a resource management system that allowed tactical program and project managers a robust technique to manage their peoples’ skills, competencies and utilisation effectively.
